BTC-logo This Saturday, June 13th, from 9am-12pm, is the 7th annual Back to the Chattahoochee River Race and Festival, created by High Country.  This river that once brought industry and affluence to our area, is still appreciated by historians, nature enthusiasts and outdoorsmen alike.  Now is your chance to spend time outside, appreciating this natural, and most importantly, FREE, landmark.  The race starts at Garrard Landing Park at Holcomb Bridge Road and finishes at Roswell’s Riverside Park—the venue for the FREE festival with live music, kids’ activities, environmental exhibits, and more.  Race participation is not free, but for a morning of exercise, healthy competition and community involvement, we still consider it a bargain.  Here are the details:

    THE RACE – 9 a.m.

The Course: Garrard Landing Park on Holcomb Bridge Road to Riverside Park. Paddlers wanting a competitive race or competing for points in the Georgia Flatwater Canoe/Kayak Series will traverse the 10-mile course, while recreational paddlers will take the 8-mile course. Both include exciting Class I-II rapids. Race fans can cheer on their favorite craft from several locations: Island Ford, Don White Park and Riverside Park.
