Well I must admit I am not a huge fan of New Years Eve. I am not a big fan of crowds or overpiced prix fixe menus.  Kurt and I typically host or attend a small dinner party to avoid the scene.  But I realize that most people like have a night out on the town. So I have searched really hard online for you to attempt to find you some affordable things to do on New Years Eve  which was a challenge.  Below you will find a couple of dining and some entertainment options that are relatively budget friendly and ITP (Inside the Perimeter).

    Cheers!

ATLANTA NEW YEARS EVE RESTAURANTS ON THE CHEAP (or as cheap as I could find):

Check out Open Table to scout out all the different New Years eve menus and pricing.  I only found 3 restaurants in the Buckhead area offering a prix fixe under $50.  The links below will take you to the restaurant page on Open Table if you are interested in making a reservation or reading more about the restaurant.

    •  Steel Restaurant and Lounge an Asian Restaurant located in Midtown offering a $35 per person for a 4 course meal but it is $55 if you want champagne and party favors.
    • Waterhaven Restaurant a Contemporary American Cuisine offering a 3 course meal for $35 and even more impressive they are offering HALF PRICE on every bottle of wine on their list!!!
    • Pura Vida a Tapas Spanish flair restaurant located in the Virginia Highlands is offering a $35 meal for 3 Tapas and 1 dessert for the 5:30PM and 7:30 seating if you go after 7:30 the price goes up $10.

On Atlanta Dish I  found another comprehensive list of Atlanta restaurants and Atlanta New Years Eve specials but only a few made the cut for being on a budget which included:

    • Ecco:If plans call for ringing in the New Year with friends in Midtown, head over to European-inspired Ecco. On New Year’s Eve, guests can choose from the full regular menu or a special New Year’s Eve à la carte menu($3-$25). And don’t worry about missing out on the bubbly. “Bubble Boy” will be circulating the restaurant selling champagne tableside. (40 7th Street, NE; 404-347-9555.)
    • Marlow’s Tavern has a New Year’s Eve plan that’s good for your economy and stimulates your appetite for good food and fun. The tavern’s $32 per-person, three-course prix fixe menu features some “Lobsters & Libations” selections as well as a complimentary glass of champagne. With six locations — all serving food until midnight — there’s a Marlow\’s location celebration near you. (Midtown at 950 West Peachtree Street, 404-815-0323; Vinings at 2355 Cumberland Parkway, 770-432-2526 check their website for all their other locations)

ATLANTA NEW YEARS EVE ENTERTAINMENT IDEAS:

A New Years Eve Guide that I found to be a great resource and guide for all the bars, lounge posted on a great site called  Favorite Things Atlanta

A few of the cheaper highlights:

ATLANTA NEW YEARS EVE ENTERTAINMENT FOR KIDS:

I went straight to the mom source  Sue- From Field Trips with Sue to find out what to do with your kids this New Years Eve on a budget.

“My kids love New Year’s Eve. If we were in town, I’d definately take them to the Radio Disney Noon Year’s Eve party. They’ll have a big dance party, games, contests and prizes. At noon there is a balloon drop and cider toast.”

What: Radio Disney                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Where: City of Smyrna Community Center
    When: Dec. 31, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
    Cost: Free

Atlanta on The Cheap’s Jennifer  has some additional New Years money saving ideas for your family including Atlanta’s infamous Peach Drop.

“I feel cold just thinking about this event: I can’t believe it’s almost New Year’s Eve. As such, it’s time for Peach Drop 2010

There’s always plenty to do From noon-6:00 p.m., the family-friendly activities & entertainment at the Family Fun & Budding Peach Stage will keep the little ones entertained. You’ll see Stephanie Schecter, the Coastal Talent Kids Showcase, Taylor Reid, Joy Brooker, AZ1, and A’lise Holliday. At 6:00 p.m., the main stage gets underway with performances by Stellate, Ben Deignan, Sun Domingo, The WannaBeatles, and Morris Day & The Time. And of course, there’ll be a fireworks display, and the 800 pound peach will begin its descent just before the clock strikes midnight.

Bonus for those of you planning to ring in the New Year at Kenny’s Alley: The standard $2 entrance fee does NOT apply. In fact, they’re waving the fee through January 2, 2010.”

How are you going to be ringing in the New Year? Did you come across a great bargain to share with us? Leave a comment below and share.
