    The Margaret Mitchell House has something new to offer visitors of all ages!  A new and enhanced visitor experience at the historic Margaret Mitchell House, complete with new exhibitions on the life of Margaret Mitchell and Gone With the Wind the movie, debuts over the July 4 weekend.

    Enjoy two days of free, fun-filled, family-friendly activities including tours of Mitchell’s apartment where Gone With the Wind was written, dancing, croquet, games, face painting, homemade ice cream, arts and crafts, living history performances, and Gone With the Wind trivia and prizes.  Kids enjoy a special 1920s dress up area and food and beverage from Mary Mac’s Tea Room are available for purchase.

    We’re sending you outside- the-perimeter and into the wild this weekend for the Dunwoody Nature Center’s Annual Butterfly Festival.  An annual favorite, this event features discovery stations, crafts, food, gifts and a giant Greathouse Butterfly Farm tent filled with lively butterflies and beautiful flowers.

    buckheadWhole Foods is hosting a techie recyling day this Saturday at the West Paces location from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.   Here is your chance to unload your old, unused computer equipment for a worthy cause. Touch the Future’s RebootTM  program will be collecting old computers and their accessories to be refurbished for people with disabilities as well as healthy seniors and disadvantaged communities.  Any computer parts unable to be refurbished are recycled.  The following items will be accepted:  computers, monitors, printers, copiers, laptops, PDAs, cell phones, business phone systems, calculators, keyboards, mice, typewriters, and Assistive Technology equipment for disabled personnel working in an office i.e. special chair, wrist pads, ball mouse, foot rest

    And if you hit the recycle day at 2PM you can be a FREE taster of the Buckhead Burger Grill Off at 2 p.m that will be held in Whole Foods parking lot.

    ist2_951574-ice-cream-illustrationSlow Food Atlanta and the Peachtree Road Farmers Market are hosting their annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, June 27 at noon.  This will be a special treat for the whole family, and nothing is better on a hot summer day than homeade ice cream!
     
    Slow Food Atlanta is seeking both contestants and tasters for this year’s Ice Cream Social fundraiser! There, Slow Food’s fans will get the opportunity to vote for the best homemade, old-fashioned — but not necessarily traditional — ice cream flavor!
     
    The contestants will include renowned local chefs and ambitious amateurs alike. Ron Eyester (Food 101 Morningside), Shaun Doty (Shaun’s), Cynthia Wong (Cakes & Ale), Ford Frye (JCT Kitchen) and Chrysta Umberger (Restaurant Eugene) are already on-board.
     
    Contestants are asked to provide at least two gallons of homespun ice cream made from fresh ingredients. Slow Food Atlanta will provide all utensils and an eager ice cream-eating public.
     
    Tickets will be $10 each, and will earn Slow Food fans a taste of each flavor and a chance to win valuable prizes. (Children under 5 are FREE) Proceeds benefit the Atlanta Chapter of Slow Food International and the Peachtree Road Farmers Market. Tickets can be purchased on-line (BrownPaperTickets.com), or at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market, every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
