I was thrilled to get the email yesterday from our in house lender that the First Time Home Buyer credit extension has officially passed. It has been tied up in the Senate for weeks leaving us to wonder if the extension would pass before the month end deadline . It was well worth the wait as now we have a new added $6500 bonus for move up buyer. See below article.

Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia
IT HAS PASSED! by Corey Boyles
Congress has approved an extension today of the home buyers tax credit, sending the bill to the White House for President Barack Obama’s signature. The House voted 403-12 to pass the bill after the Senate unanimously approved the measure Wednesday night. The legislation continues a home buyers’ tax credit and a measure allowing businesses to write off some of their losses incurred over the past two years. House lawmakers voted to approve the measure more than a month after initially agreeing to a more modest extension of unemployment benefits. The home buyers’ tax credit and business-tax measure were added in the Senate.
The bill extends an $8,000 first-time home buyers’ tax credit that was set to expire at the end of this month. The credit will apply to all house contracts entered into before April 30, 2010, and closed by June 30. It creates a new $6,500 credit for existing property owners looking to sell their home and buy another during the same period of time. Both credits have income restrictions limiting their availability.

Hoping my husband is tuning into this post as I have been bargain hunting online for discounted Cavalia tickets. This is a much talked about show that has toured around the world and has finally landed in the ATL . I have been reading fabulous reviews about this show that is filled with live music, dance and acrobatics. Cavalia was created by the Cirque du Soleil co-founder and combines the equestrian and the performing arts. The Cavalia show is performed under the White Bit Top conveniently located at Atlantic Station. Unfortunatley this show is not here for very long and will be hitting the road for the next city on November15th.
Learn more about the Cavalia by visiting their website.
Tickets range from $29.50 – $189.50 depending on the night of the week and seat location.
I was only able to find two sites that offered a discount on these tickets. If you have another website or code please share with our Bargains in Buckhead followers and I will post it pronto.
AJC Bargain Hunter Rana Cash posted a 30% OFF Cavalia tickets by calling 1-866-999-8111 for select shows

The temps are chilling and it is officially crock pot season in Atlanta. If you don’t own a crock pot now is the time to make a purchase as your crock may become your new best friend. Hit your local Target and Walmart to find a bargain crockpot and let the fun begin. Throughout the winter season I will share with you some of my favorite crocking recipes that I have found to be not only cheap but really easy.
Soups are a great place to start with your crockpot and White Bean Chicken Chili is one of my favorites. My secret ingredient is the McCormicks White Chicken Chili Seasoning Packet.
INGREDIENTS
1 Rotisserie Chicken (Costco has the cheapest Rotisserie intown) cut into 3/4-inch cubes
1 package McCormick® White Chicken Chili Seasoning Mix
1 cup water
1 can (15 ounces) white beans, undrained
1 can of Rotel
DIRECTIONS
Combine the above ingredients into your crockpot and keep on LOW setting ready in a few hours. Tips
Variation: Add 1 can (14 1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained, 1 cup chopped fresh tomatoes, 1 can (8 3/4 ounces) whole kernel corn or 1 cup frozen corn with the beans.
Serve with your favorite toppings: shredded cheese, tortilla chips, sour cream, sliced avocado, ect…
Post a comment and share your favorite quick, easy and cheap crockpotting recipe.

Ready to learn a new hobby and a new language? Cast on, purl, moss stitch, slip and more are just a few examples of the lingo you will learn in the knitting world. My mom taught me to knit a few years ago but unfortunately I have not graduated beyond the entry level of a scarf. But a scarf is a great starting place and would make for a great holiday gift for someone on your list. Basic knitting is cheap and easy. All you will need is some yarn and knitting needles that you can pick up at your local craft store. And trust me as a beginner you want to start off with the cheap yarn as you will make a few mistakes the first go round. If you can’t find a friend to teach you the basics sign up for a local class.
Here are a few local class options:
Callanwolde Fine Arts located in Midtown: $90 for 4 sessions click here for location and class info
Chastain Arts Center located in Buckhead: $110 for a 10 week session click here
In Stitches located in Buckhead: $20 for a 2 hour class with the option to purchase a punch card of 5 classes for $80 click here
Knitch in the Virginia Highlands: $110 for 3 classes click here
Evenings at Emory does not currently have any classes this Fall but check back in the later winter for more class info
I hope you are inspired to pick up some knitting needles and cast on this winter a fabulous knitted creation.

I couldn’t resist promoting a road race titled RUN Like Hell. Runners of all ages will Run Like Hell (or like Heck for the kids) through hauntingly beautiful Oakland Cemetery and neighboring Grant Park on Halloween morning, October 31.
This year the course will wind past even more of the magnificent monuments and stately mausoleums of Atlanta’s oldest burial site where such notables as Margaret Mitchell, Bobby Jones and Maynard Jackson are buried. Unique “cemetery themed” awards will be presented in multiple categories.
Costumes are encouraged! Plan on participating in our First Annual Costume Contest following the races where more awards will be given!
Ticket prices are $25. Click here to sign up and find out more information.
